(Ey, TokgF-iph.-<-Sii!!cidl Correspondent-} Auckland, February 5. In the course of conversation with a reporter this morning .011 tho progress of work at tho Waikersa.. Reformatory, the Hon. A. L. Herdmaii., Minister' of Justice, said that a considerable J? ■of the land is now under eultivatfcm, and that he was exceedingly phased witli the progress made during tho jeaf. At the present time, added the Minister, 8 number of prisoners are engaged in excavating for the foundation of tho new buildiag, and this cxeava't-iiit; woi'k will probably'be fiuished in about a fortnight's time, when tho foundation work itself will bo precocities! with. "Genor* nily, I was rcry well satisfied with what I saw, and with this progress which tho reformatory Iras made since I last saw it, about a year ago," remarked Mr. Herdnifin.
