THAT CONCERT.
MAYOR & MR. GEORGE ELLtOTT. In ,reply to tho last message forwarded by v Mr. George 'Elliott (president of tho Auckland Exhibition), in which ho refers to tho Mayor's action "in endeavouring to repudiate and set aside the concession granted," Mr. J. P.'Luko has sent the following telegram:— "No repudiation. Regret you overlooked that original motion remains in, abeyance until rescinding resolution is dealt with." • , Speaking to a Dominican representative, the Mayor said that the motion to allow a charge to be made at the Sunday concert by the Royal Artillery Band had been considered by the council without nfli'ch information being before them, and could not take effect until the rescinding motion had been dealt with. Tho above mossago would bo his I last. He was tired of the matter, and was , not disposed to continue tho interchange of telegrams. It is possible that the vexed question may , c6mo up at to-night's meeting of tho City Council at question time. If bo, there may be no noed for the special meeting, which has been calle'd for tomorrow afternoon.
