OBJECTIONABLE COMMENT. NEWSPAPER DIRECTOR SENT J TO PRISON. IMPENDING DIVORCE CASE. By Teleßrapl-fress AssooiaUaiMJoiiyTlfrh* Uonddnj February 3, Under an order of attachment, Frank H3rris, director of tho journal "Modern Society," has been arrested for publish* ing comments *n the impending Mel-vil!e-Platt-Pit?wiHiam divorce case. The "Mod&rn Society's" article included references to Earl Fitawilliamas a "sly dog" for concealing the Melville episode while the King aud Queen were visiting him in Yorkshire in the summer. It commented on Lady Fitzwilliam's attitude, suggesting that she could tell a story about.her husband. When Harris appeared in tho King's Bench Division of the High Golirtj Mr. Justice Horridgo stated that the journal's comments were extremely objectionable, and prejudicial to tlie co-re-spondent. They were not a sample of what the Press- of England did. Ho committed Harris to prison for an indefinite period. Harris, said the Judge, had had an opportunity* to apologise, but had not done" so.
A message published, last month stated:. "The Tumours that Earl Fitzwillia.in is to be co-respdnd«h:t i.n D'ivor&e Court proceedings found confiMiiatipn in his counsel's protest against stateiiients Wade in the newspapers. He requested that the case should be expedited, but the Judge refused. : T. Comyji Plat!, of Bristol, is another co-fesponilent. The plaififci.ff is Alexander Brddrick I/eslio Melville, director of the TJnioa and Ijondsn Bank.
