MASTER PLUMBERS.

(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) Auckland, February 3. The, annual conference of the New Zealand Federated Master Plumbers has' opened. The following delegates were present:—Messrs.' A. Burt'- (president), H. J. Cooper (vice-president),' J. Spinley (treasurer), F. Courtney (district vicepresident), and T. H. Hanson (secretary). These formed the executive, and all camo from Auckland. - The visiting delegates wero as follow:—From Invorcargill: Messrs. J. Sheahan, and R.. Spiers. From Dunedin: Messrs. .T. M. Wilson and W. Foster. From Ohristchurcli: Messrs. J. D. Colvillo. J. Largo, and H. Starkey. From Wellington: Messrs. C. Remington, H. Hanson, C. W. Martin, and A. W. Parton. From Wanganui: Mr. J. D. Graham. From Gisborne: Mr. A. Wade. From-Wai-kato: Messrs. T. F. Palmer' and E. 0. Clarkson. From Auckland: Messrs. C. A. Peara>, H. A. Harrison, and W. S. Foster. From Timaru: Mr. F. Clough. From Hawko's Bay: Mr. G. W..,Loach. ' Interestina reports wero suomittea from each district upon the science of sanitation as far as the plumbing trado was concerned. _ Amongst tho recommendations made in the reports. wero tlio need for uniform by-laws • regulating sanitary plumbing throughout the Dominion, aiid tlio need for_adequate water supplies' and sanitary plumbine in tho interest of the public health. The need for members of drainage.boards ' being better qualified for their positions was also touched <upon, aud one delegate suggested that medical and practical moti iikmo should be appointed. , 'It was also pointed out that Wellington, before tho drainage scliemo was carried out., had the highest death-rate in New Zealand, whereas the delegate from the capital claimed that it was now tho healthiest placo in tho Dominion. 'Another point touched upon- was that, in some boroughs, unqualified men wero still retained as sanitary inspectors. Somo 23 remits have been sent for the consideration of the conference!
