1 As a consequence of the easing of the money market it is understood that the Dunedin Corporation,. in common witli.ii number of municipal bodies, is already negotiating for the raising of loans which have already been authorised but have not been floated owing to the hitherto adverse money market. The. Dunedin "Star" states that from what can bo gathered tho rate of interest which municipal borrowers of standing will have to pay for money raised in the near future will be 4J- per cent. That.is to say, 4j- per cent, municipal bonds have good prospects of flotation on tho London market at par, hut tho deduction of charges,, etc., which in the caso of municipal issues are said to amount to fully 3 per cent., would virtually be equivalent to tho loan netting the borrower from £96 10s. to £U7 per £100. •
