PROPOSED SCIENTIFIC LIBRA'RY. The frrststep towards the foundation of tho Dominion Scientific, Art, and Historical Library contemplated by the Science and Art Act of last year was taken by the Board of Governors of the New Zealand Institute at their annual meeting on Friday, when ;the following motion was unanimously passed:—"That the board approves of the formation of a Scientific Library as provided for under the Science and Art Bill, and is prepared to consider tho handing over of its library to the Scientifio Library on conditions concerning the rights of its mombers, and that the Standing Committee be asked to report on the question." a At a meetmg of the Standing Committee on Saturday, Mr. G. M. Thomson, M.P..' and. Professors Easterfield and von Zcdlitz wero appointed a subcommitteo to confer with the Board of Science and' Art regarding tho conditions of the transfer. The next step in the matter of the Museum and Library will bo tho appointment of five Government nominees to tho Board,of Science and Art.
