On j?nday evening last,' in - rocogni* tjon of his Services as a special constable during the recent industrial trouble, Mr. D. Bevan was tho guest of the settlers of the district at a smoke eencert held in tho Manakau Hotel. Major Taturn occupied the chair, and during the evening presented tho guest with a handsome gold sovereign case, together with a small monetary recognition.
