■ NIW SCHEMES "PROPOSE!?. Tho General Executive of tho Citizens' Carnival met last sight, and received the reports, of the various sub-commit-tees. : The Mayor (Mr. J. ?. Lute) .presided. ' ■ Tho Spqrte-Committee's report was adopted-. The Mayor reported 'haying written k), Uenerasl Go.dioy regarding a, display with tho Britannia monoplane, but as General Godley was out of town ho- had not haet a. reply to the letter. Mr. W. H. Morton said he had had tin ijitervieft" with the- airman now experimenting' at.-Otaki, Mr. J. W..H. Scotland, Mr. Scotland was prepared to give an exhibition at Lyeil.Bay, but suggested that tho tramway authorities should make him it grant.. Mr. Morton did not .think tho Tramway Board would agree to this, and ho suggested to the committee- that Mr. Scotland he asked to give, a display at Treiitliam. This did not mean, as was explained, that ilio negotiations with tho defence authorities would bo discontinued. The preposal. wag left in charge , qf , the-Sports'-Committee with Mr. Morton. ; The members in charge of the schools athletic- sports and of the fancy-dress display sported that arrangements wore well in train, and that tho prospects were excellent. ' Mr. Marryatt said he thought it would β-ttll be possible to organise a. gala, at Lyall Bay, with tho aid of tho surf clubs arid-Wirrcmora in .tho'-city.- -'■ ■ The Mayor was aslscd' to 'invite the citizens to. keep holiday'from noon oh Wednesday, March ir the, first., day of. tho carnival, and also- the Mij.vor agreed to request the Education Board- to close the schools on. the following Friday, when the children's sports will b& held..
