'The secretary of the Agricultural Department, Tvrote inviting the co-opera-tion of tho chamber in securing tho representation of the. Dominion at the Panama Exposition. , ' ■ . :. The cKairman said that the question was one which should be gono into thoroughly. Tho matter should bo referred to a committee for a report. Perconally, he thought that the Dominion should be represented at the Exposition. . ".. . ■ ' ■'. . ...
Mr. Atkins moved that a committee consisting of Messrs. Leigh-Hunt and Townsend be delegated to report at the next meeting. ' ! Mr. Leigh-Hunt thought that the Department's bottor course would be to outline jsorne proposal to a representative committee of public bodiea interested in the question. Hβ suggested that representatives of the twn Chambers of Commerce, the Farmers' Union, the Industrial Association, and other kindred bodies, should meet in conference; after having first been given a lead by the Department. . ' The motion, was carried on the voices. ' The question as to, whether or not Wellington .should follow, in foot-! steps of Australia in the direction of holding air public holidays on tho near.est Mondays, was brought up by Mr. LeiEch-Hunt. He favoured it. The chairman also commended , the proposal. 'A committee was appointed .to go into the matter and prepare a renort. For' the future it was decided to meet on the third Monday in each, month at 3 p.m. .'
