BOWLS & BOWLERS. THE AUSTRALIAN VISITORS. " LOCAL PROGRAMME. The team of Australian bowlers now touring the Dominion 'will arrive in Wellington from Palmcrstoii North on Saturany evening , nest; The party' is constituted as follows :— iTom i\ew South Wales: Messrs. M. Mullanpy, Fitzgerald, F. Booth, T Jones, G. Gale, S. M'Lean/J. Hicks, j. Jolly, S. Clarke, HawkeyG. Wheeler, G. Raftan, M. Jenkins, W. Denver, A. Walker, M'Ewau, Gay. From Victoria ■ Messrs. A. Mair, Burton T. Leslio, and Mather. From Queensland: Messrs. C. Collins, C. Overall. Valleby, R. Hamilton. From Adelaide,: Mr. C. Morris. The visitors will be mot at the. railway station, and driven to tho Empire Hotel, whero they arc to stay whilst in Wellington, and at 8 p.m. are to be formally welcomed by'the officials of the Wellington Centre.. On Sunday afternoon they will pay a visit to Island Bay, calling at tho. residonco of Mr. Charles Hill,, senior, where they will bo entertained at afternoon tea;
On Monday morning, at 9.15, they will be accorded a civic reception at the ,I'own Hall, and imediately afterwards will be taken for a motor drive to the Hu.tt Valley. Whilst visiting that locality tho party will call at the flno residence of the Hon. John Duthie, M.L.C., and there partake, of his hospitality. The party will return to town in time for luncheon, and during the afternoon" will try conclusions on the Wellington 1 green with the Wellington Centre—a test'match Australia v. Wellington (in which all the local clubs tt ill take.part). That evening tho Australians' will be entertained at a smpko concert in the Wellington club's pavilion, the programme, for which is being prepared by Mr. E. J. Hill. ~ 1 ' On .Tuesday tho visitors will be tho guests of the Wellington Club—the premier club of the province. During tho party will be taken for a ride in motor-cars, right' round , the water-front, proceeding round Oriental Bay, Evans , Bay, to Seatoiin, via Point :Halsw'cll, thence through tho tunnel to ;Lyall and Island Bays, and back to : town, via Happy Valley and Brooklyn. 'During the afternoon tho visitors will |play a match against the Wellington • Club, and the same evening will leave for Lyttelton. . •,
WELLINGTON. CLUB. 1 The progressive pairs tournament of ,'tho Wellington Club, commenced on Boxing Day, was brought to a conclusion this week, when Hoiildor and Bell ,(s.) defeated Bird and Knapp (s.), by 17 to 15 points. Magnus and Portions have still to play the final game in the rink tournament commenced on Anniversary Day. ■
