The monthly meeting of, the TeennWl Education Board was Lid last evening There were present: Mr. D. Robertson (in the chair), the Mayor (Mr. J. P I-uko), and Messrs. D. M'Laren, W. H' Field, G. Frost, and J. Smith. ' " r attention of tho board was drawn from Ohristchurch to tho fact that tho present railway regulations prevented a. boy being taken as an apprentice in the railway workshops if he was over 15 years of age. The co-operation. of the board was asked in getting tho ago extended. The Mayor said this opened up a wide ejuestion. During the short time ho was in Parliament he had known of many boys, well fitted, for the work, who had been debarred from enterine; tho railway ehops by this ago limit. Ho thought,.-the Government would bo well advised to reconsider this limit. Iho matter was finally left in the hands of the chairman, the Director of tho Toclmicil School (Mr. W. S. La Trobe), and Mr. J. Smith to report to nest meeting. _ A lette- was recoived from the Publio Trustee, on behalf of the Macarthy Trustees, regretting that the trustee's could sot seo their way to mako a giant to tho board. The financial statement for tlio year showed the receipts at £2033 Os. M". as against £1823 7s, sd. for 1912. Of this sum capitation mado up £1570 18s. Bd.
