. Mr. F. H. Molesrrorth, P. 0.5., F.Q.S., Central Analytical and Amy Office, Sydney, reports:— "In order to test the Gennloldal Power of Lifebuoy Soap, I conduoted tho following experiments :~ " No. I.—l obtained, by creeping, about a pound weight of ordinary miscellaneous dust. This sample I gathered from a well-known passenger wharf and its approacb.ee. I placed some. of this under, a most powerful microsoopo, ■ which enabled me' to clearly distinguish rarious forms of germs or microbes. Borne of these I ■was able to identify, but othori wore unknown to me. . . . . " Among those with which I wn» more or less familiar, I rooognieod the Baoillue of Tuberculosis, the germ of Consumption. "J. then immersed the dueb in if 10 per cent, solution of Lifebuoy Soap for fifteen minutes. After/filtering on the solution, I again submitted the duet to the same examination under the \ microscope, and found that all life, even that of. the Tubercle Bacilli (which were fairly numerous) was extinct. " No. 2.—ln a similar manner to the foregoing I collected a sample of com-mon-household dust, and conducted a like r test. Tubercle germs were present, but so few that I had to repeat my observations nioro than once to feel certain of the{faot.■■.? ,■,:;•..;; ,:..,. "The destruction'of the'bacterial , life. . was quite as satisfactory as in tho first experiment. After a-lapse of 24 hours I again examined the' two samples of treated dust, but found; as before,_ no traces of life in them,- which I consider very-clearly demonstrates the. strong germicidal 7 powers of Lifebuoy Soap."
