At a gieeting of the council of the Scottish Society of Wellington hold lastlii«ht a proposal was disfi-usse,d with tho idea of bringing about- a federation of alt tho Scots' Societies in tho Dominion. There afo B.omo twentyifivo societies now existing as Caledonian Societies, Gaelic Societies, 'Scottish SocietieSj and vinicx fltber nanieSi The proposal for a fodetv atiou was endorsed by unanimous vote of the meotijig. A cQßviijittco was sei up to worlj in this direction, and tho various societies will ba communicated with' and their support for the movement solicited. Later en a conference will probab.lv bs held, and a New Zealand Scota' Federation brought into actual being.
