PENROSE DISPERSAL SALE

Messrs. Abraham and Williams, Ltd Dalgety and Co., Ltd., ; and tho New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd., report having conducted the first annual dispersal sale of stud nnd flock Eomney and Lincoln rams on behalf of Mr. Wm. Perry, Penrose, yesterday, as follows:— ,

The sale was held at tho Solway Show Grounds, Masterton, where the pens, ring, etc., available are probably the most convenient in the ' Dominion for holding such_ a-sale,, and buyers from outsido districts' were most complimentary in their remarks regarding the same. The auctioneers are indebted to Messrs. ftobert Cooper aiid Wm. Watson, who control the annual ram fair, for their courtesy, and assistance in. attending to the. work of■ tho ring itself, everything working most smoothly and without the slightest hitch. Buyers from outsido - centres, iushiding Australia, were very prominent, tho Auckland district being strongly represented, and tho bulk of Iho studs and tho flock sheep leave the Wairarapa. The idea prevailing during the last week that .the salo was likely, to boom was responsible for local buyers for flock sheep being moro or less conspicuous by their absence, and some good bargains were secured. Summed up, the salo can be described as very satisfactory for both stud Romneys and Lincolns, but a little disappointing for flock sheep. Only threo flock Eomneys. were turned out sold, but several lots were disposed of at prieos in buyers' favour, Mr. P.erry meeting the public most fairly, and refusing to pass in any sheep for which a reasonable figure was offered. The demand for Lincoln flocks, which on the whole were particularly good, larpo boned, and wcll-woolled sheep, was good, and bidding very spirited, except at the closo, of tho sale, when buyers had filled their.requirements, and about 35 sheep were returned to Penrose. . '

Prices aro as under Eomneys, 00 guineas, 2 at 50 guineas, 46 at SO guineas, 3 at 25 guineas, 2 at 20 guineas, 19 guineas, and 18 guineas, 2 at 15 guineas, 13 ginueas.
