(Br Teheraph.-Speclal Corresoondent.) Auckland, January 27. Although there was a slight falling off in the- building operations in E-oino of the Auckland suburbs districts during tho year 15)13, tho record for the citv and. suburbs was on the whole one of substantial progress. Tho tightness of the money market was largely responsible in: the fact that soveral districts showed decreases,' but with tho removal of this temporary stringency a greater rate of progress may he expected during tho present year. The late strike also had the effect of limiting the number of building permits taltDii out during tho latter part of tho year, and , this is another circumstance which will assist in increasing tho totals for 1914. The fignrM for the city and 17 of the suburbs districts which havo been supplied by the authorities in each iaw show that a total of ] 775 permits for the erection of buildings were taken out during the year, representing :\ total estimated value of £903,486.
