THE WELLINGTON CONTROL. , The Wellington Cricket Association met last-night. Mr. C. 0. Wilson presided, and there were present also: .Messrs. Iv. 11. Heecbey (secretary), i'\ . Martin (treasurer), C. Hickson, F. Midlane, M. J. Crombie, R, .Mason, and Goldfinch. The Post and Telegraph team were granted a wicket on the Basin Riseive for the annual match between the Wellington and Christclnirch l'ost and Tele, graph teams on February 9 and iO. It was decided that the Auckland match should commence at 2 o'clock cn Thursday, and that the - time of commencing on the other two days should be left to tho captains of tho teams. An endeavour is to bo made io'pet tho Government to allow t"0 Civil Servants a half-holiday on Thursday for the Auckland match. The I,aw Society, also, has been approached. Recently an intricate position riose concerning the result of a Butt- East B. junior match, in which ytumps were drawn before tho necessary runs needed' by East to win were obtained. _ The stumps were drawn tinder lbs impression that these runs bad been -wured. The association awarded tho match to tbe Hutt team, but "Not Out," of the Sydney "Referee," was asked .for bis opinion, and he has now replied that lie considers that East were entitled! to a win. 'AUCKLAND MATCH. Tho Auckland cricket team wliiels is to play Wellington on tbe Basin Reserve dn Thursday, Friday, and Saturday will arrive here from Christcliurch this morning. At o p.m. a reception will bo tendered them by tlie Mayer nt tbe Town Hall. The match is to commence at 2 o'clock on Thursday. WELLINGTON TEAM. The Marvlebono Cricket Club's team is playing a match against an Orange Flee State eleven'. The Englishmen lost eight wickets for oGS runs (innings declared) —Bird scoring 200 runs and Hearoo' 10&. In the first innings tho Free State scored 117 and (following on) 74, the Englishmen thus winning, by an innings and 377 runs. Barnes took seven wickets for 41 runs, in the first .venture of the Free Staters, while in tho second innings he got six for 38, Douglas securing four for 34. AUSTRALIAN* TOURING "?EAM COMPLETED.
