LECTURE ON SLUM LIFE.
At tho Wesley Church. Taralinlii Street on Monday, the Rev. J. Flanagan delivered an interesting lecture on the slum life in the South-Enst of London. There was a larfto audience, and the Mayor (Mr. J. P. Luke) presided. Tho lecturer spoke at some length, and told in an imnressive manner of tho sufferings of. the unfortunates who inhabit tho stum area. lie nlso made mention of the good work which tho missionaries wero doing in tlio direstinn of brightening the lives of those who lived in these terrible quarters. Mr. Flanagan has spe'ifc ninny .years in tho London slum area, and his Iwtnre last evening forms tlw last of ii series which ho has deli.'ercd in Wellington.
