TO THAT CALL FOB A MEETING. Tho executivo of the new union of waterside' workers are not going to call a special;mccting of tho union in terms of recent-requisitions. "Wo are going to take no more notice of t'liem," said a. member of the executivo, referring ,to tile'requisitionists yesterday. "Wo have been bothering with them while wo should have been attending to union business, and wo aro not going, to. do it any more. Wo are going to run our business in our own way, and this agitation has got to

cease." The following letter is being sent by tho secretary:—

"To S. Dempsoy and other requisitionists.

"I am directed by tie executive of the Wellington Wharf Labourers' Industrial Union of Workers to acknowledge receipt of your requisition dated January 23, requesting tho convening of a special meeting for Wednesday, January 23, at S p.m., and to inform you that tho business specified in your notice is such as if transacted must have 110 legal effect, for if that meeting wero to be convened for Wednesday three clear days' notico of tho meeting could not bo given by tho secretary to tho members, pursuant to Rule 20. Tho executive therefore regrets that it cannot call tho meeting asked for.

The special meeting has been already advertised by thoso interested in having it held, but the executive have an announcement in this, issuo declaring that tho meeting' is not. to be regarded as a regular meeting of the union, and that any resolutions passed at it can have no legal effect. Tho position on tho waterfront is now very peculiar. For long it lias been clear that there has been a faction organised to opposo the now union, but it lias been lately, mado clearly an : advertisement signed "G. G. Farland, secretary," that tlicro is a, sub-union of Federationists •in tho Arbitration Union.
