Before the Dominions' Trade Commission, Sir Llcwnliyn Smith, Permanent Secretary to tlie Board of Trade, gave evidence that lie know of important instances where trade which had passed to foreign competitors had boon recovered through the aid of tho Trade Commissionqrs stationed in the Dominion!!. It was impracticable to make a commercial intelligence system inter-Imperial. Sir Edgar Vincent, the Chairman, remarked that complaints- had been matlo that lists of traders iu the Dominions had not been supplied to Chambers of Commerce. Sir Licwc-llyn Smith replied that republication would enable the lists to reach tho hands of foreign traders, and it was preferable that application should be made to the Board of Trade by suitable persons.
