CLOSING PI? ICES. By Telegraph—Press Affociotion-CGpyrteht (Rec. January 26, 0.15 a.m.) London, January 25. The wool sales closed with prices at tho highest point during tho series. Kussia throughout has given good support, and tho Yorkshire and American demand was strong for good shafty 64's. Priccs of greasy combing advanced 5 per cent., crossbrcds 5 to 7} fior cent., and finest 10 per cent. Scoured unchanged. Compared with last sales, slipes, which wore inferior, declined one halfpenny. In. view of tho relatively low level in tho Value of tops and yarns, the keen demand for wool surprised the trade. Tho hosiery industry, however, is very prosperous, and merino fabrics are iii strong demand. A largo depiction in stocks of tops is expected before March, and there should be a good American demand for crossbrcds during tho coming months.
