COOL SUMMER DRINKS.

■ To become hot means unfortunately a certain amount of thirst. And nothing is so trying than to feel that one cannot procure somo sort of drink when the trials of summer drought are in evidence. However, in the first place, no one should drink more than three pints of any liquid in. one day. Not only this, but tho amount should bo taken in small quantities at a time, as very much greater satisfaction is obtained. One of tho most cooling drinks to take is cold, weak tea, with very little or no sugar. . Lemonade and limejuico ,are also excellent and harmless summer beverages. Here is a good recipe for making HOME-MADE LEMONADE. Put tho thin rind of four lemons and 31b. of white-loaf sugar into aquart of boiling water. .When the mixture is quite cool, and tho sugar is all dissolved, add, the juico of the lomons and

2oz. of tartaric acid. Then strain aiid bottle for use. To make a nice strong drink, 'take, a quarter of the lemonade to three-quarters of water. You will find that this will make a most cooling and refreshing drink. ANOTHER REFRESHING DRINK. Pineapple is another delicious drink. Hero is an 'excellent recipe: Take a pineapple, which may be either fresh or preserved,two quarts of water, the juice of four'lemons, a little, ice and sugar to taste. Cut the pineapple into slices, and then chop it coarsely. Pour over it the cold water, and the leraonjuico, and .sweeten to taste. Next strain into a largo jug, and add the ico. The ico may be omitted if you do not wish an iced driuk. ICED COFFEE. This is another drink which, if well made, is very refreshing. Put a quarter of a pint of milk, a quarter of a pint of cream, and throe tablospoonfuls of sugar into a pan'; When hot, pour ono pint of strong c-o£Fe<>- over, and leavo until colrl. v Then .freeze till like cream, and add a few drops of vanilla essence to give it a uy:e flavour.
