STREET NAMES IN THE CITY.
Sir. —On a recnnt visit, to .-Wellington; t was immediately struck with'the lack of information regarding streets, and T think that it is high time the municipality moved , in tho direction of providing street notices at tho .suitable places in each ctrcet. As a fairly consistent visitor to' Wellington it seems absurd tlint tlio capital city of the Dominion should so sadly lag behind in an absolute necessity, and lack of considerations like these certainly do not make for popularity and progressiveness. In Timaru tlio nowspapc-rs, the municipality, and tho genera! public would be up in arms immediately, it we, as a progressive community, qro not alivo to our responsibilities, and, surely if wo have street notions on every corner, Wellington, the capitnl city,' which is supposed to Ite the absolute essence of progressiveness, can get busy accordingly. Fancy, after a few visits to Wellington, being quite unfamiliar with names of the busy and important streets! This in the misfortune of many visitors, and the installation of street notices would remedy all these disadvantages and Wellington would earn the thanks of A MISGUIDED VISITOR.
