NOTES AND COMMENTS.

tBT Glinco*.l THIRD DAY AT TRENTHAM. ' At Trentham to-day the Wellington Racing Club's Summer Meeting is to be concluded, and if the weather Isolds fine, as it promises to do, there should be another large attendance. Special •jrailway arrangements will again obtain "and trains will leavo To Aro Station tor the racecourse at 10.23 a.m. and 10.43 a.m. From Lambton Station the. special trains will leavo at 111.18 a.m., 10.40 a.m., 11 a.m., 11.9 a.m.. and 12.G p.m. 'The fields are again largo and includo several horses that have not yet started at the meeting. Pno. of these is Vocation, who is engaged in tho opening event with Bst. 111b. He and Kistoriette will probably carry most support in this event.

Sanguinary is a new arrival in the Open Welter, but her form so far this season has beeu very disappointing, and both Birkfxil and Fair Rosamond should be better supported. Tho latter got a particularly bad run in the Racing Club Handicap, but was prominent at the straight entrance.

Intelligible is making her first appearanco at Trentham in the Hopeful Stakes. She can go very fast and so can Martiau Princess, who had a break on the field in tho early part of the Nursery Handicap on Wednesday, Kilrain and Haskayne were eagerly inquired for yesterday for the Summer Handicap, but it should be remembered that Seatondalo ran a good race in tho big handicap on Thursday and finished close up.

Tannhauser, Birkline, Rinaldo, and Immer are among those engaged in the Consolation Handicap. When in receipt of_ 14lb. from Kilrain, Immer won tho Wairarapa Cup. Sho then carried 7st81b., and got to tho end of the ton furlongs in 2min. 7sec. The City Handicap field is a good one and this should'be tho hardest race of tho day to win. Postillion, Sir Moseley, and Blue Lake are a likely trio and, of thoso lower down tho list, Pavlova and Chudic may bo ablo to go as fast as the top weights. i Aratiatia, Alecto, and Holywell are to mako their first appearance at tho meeting in tho Kaitoko Handicap, Zeus was prominent for fivo furlongs on Thursday, and if tho race has not had any ill-effect upon the Martian gelding, lie may be seen in a favourable light. Just after the start of tho last event at tho Hutt Valley Trots yesterday, Manscenita fell in tho middle of tho big field, but luckily neither tho horse nor his rider was injured.

Ono.or two overcoats wero missed by their owners at the Hutt Valley Trotting Cluli's meeting yesterday, and could not bo traced. Among those who searched unsuccessfully for their coats at tho end of the day's racing was a Wellington detoctivo, who was on duty at the course.

After the seventh race at the Hutt Valley Trotting Club's meeting of Petoue. yesterday, the trotter Childttoaa ?as submitted to auctioned
