The bodies represented were the Woodville, Palmerston, and Feildini; Bdrougli Councils, the Paliiatna, • Wobdyille, Kairanga, and Ornua County Councils,' and tho Hawlce's Bay. .Wairarapa, and Manawatu Automobile Associations. 'Xhe Mayor of Weoclville was in tho chair. The-meeting was called to consider the'traffic, in the Manawatu Gorge. It was proposed to erect a. toll-gate, at each end, and to restrain 'traffic each way during certuin hours. A second proposal was to connect the, tol)-"atc!> by telephone, and establish a tablet system. .Neither pro-' posal found favour. The'final .result Was to ask the. local bodies having'control of the,, road to expend the Government graiit made last year, and any other... available money on the widening of tile road at dangerous points; next to ask the Government ■ to. talje over the. road,- and, thirdly, to .endeavour to obtain subscriptions .from ear owners for the improvement, of tho road. Tho Woodvillo Borough Council are,to arrange a deputation to 'interview the Government,- ■-. . ' ' '
