It will be remembered that 'during Hie recent strike in Wellington fifteen of the Opawa's firemen refused duty and wave arrested an November 30. They were .sentenced to U days', imprisonment, and ordered to be plneed on board the vessel if she should sail before tho expiry of the sentence. On December 1 they were placed on board, and the Ojiawa sailed outside tho Heads, but M of the firemen still refusing to work, they wore rearrested and charged with the more seri-ous-offence of refusing duly on the high s«as.- On this charge they were committed for trial ,it the Supreme Court, hail bcinj fisoil at'JHQ per man. This bail was not forthcoming, and, nller the men hail been- in gnol for six weeks, the ball was reduced to XH, and the incJi were released. The Opawn -meanwhile was well on her way.
