TO ATTRACT IMMIGRANTS.
!■'■ It.'is the intention of the Vietoriun Government to endeavour to interest tho countries of Northern Europe in the attractions of Victoria for immigrants 'of tho agricultural class,' and in the 'facilities provided to land-seekers for securing blocks of land. Arrangomculs are being made for .Government agents to travel in Holland, Norway, and Denmark, and bring the advantages of Victoria, under tho notice of tho people. To-day tho Victorian Ministers of Agriculture, Lands, and Immigration, ftnd the ; .Dopartmentnl officers, are meeting in conference, with Mr. Percy Hunter, officer in charge of tho combined immigration offices of Victoria and New South Wales in London, in order to detorminn how greater assistance may bo rendered to land-seekers. The idea is to provide specially-prepared blocks for non' arrivals. ' At the same time, the .Minister lor Lands has instructed his officers: to. prepare a scheme by which local applicants for closer settlement blooksrinay obtain them'more readily.
