Wedding at Hill Street Basilica. : The.marriage took place at the Korean Catholic Basilica yesterday morning of Mrs. Jlacartliy, widow of ■tha late Air.. T. G. Macavthv, and daughter of Mrs;' M'Carthy, of the Lower Hiltt, to Mr. Walter Hoid, fourth son of Mr. and Mrs. Nicholas Hcid, of Wellington. Archbishop Itedwood, assisted by ,-Vrchripacon Devoy, conducted the ceremony, and Mr. Page, the City Organist, played tho music. The church was beautifully decorated for tho occasion by the nuns of the Hill Street Convent, with hydrangeas,'roses, and sweet peas, in shades of. piilk, blue, and heliotrope. The Bight Hon. W. I<\ Massey gave away the bride, who wore a costumo of heavy ribbed lvhito silk, tho skirt caught on either side, with buttons of pearls and brilliants, and inlet with a flounce of point lace. The tailed, cut-away coat was worn over a blouse of Irish lace, and the white plumed hat was lin-ed with heliotrope. The bride also carried a bouquet of heliotrope sweet peafi. Two little nieces of the bride. Misses Mollie Rutter and Mollie Fitzsimmons, worn bridesmaids. Thev wore frocks of wliito crope-de : chine and lace, and little bonnets, run wjth pale bluo and pink . ribbons, and carried crooks tied with white satin boa's. Their presents from' the bridegroom were gold pendants, set with turquoise. Mr. J. Webster was best. man. The bridegroom's presents to the bride wore a pair of diamond ear--rings and a diamond pendant, and tho'. bride gave the bridegroom a pair of field-glasses, a pair of gold sleeve links, j and a pearl scarf-pin and studs. After tho ceremony a reception was held at the college building of the Hill Street Convent, where the wedding breakfast was served in the dining-room. Tho rooms were decorated with sweet peas, jtjscs and hydrangeas, in delicate shades, and comfortably furnished with easy chairs and lounges. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Reid received in the hall, with tho bride's mother, Mrs. M'Cartjiy, and her brother, Mr. J. Kitzsiniroons. Sir Joseph Ward proposed tho health of the bride and bridegroom, Mr. Webster that of the bridesmaids, the Hot). W. V, Massey tho bride's mother, and Mr. Tolhurst that of the bridegroom's parents.. Mrs. M'Carthy wore a coat and skirt of black silk, with collar of tiel cloth, and a black plumed hat; Mrs. Massey, shot mauve silk costumo and hat with flowers ; Mrs. Reid, a black costume and hat, with cream lace; Mrs. Rnttor; sistor of tho bride, a grey costume and grey hat with black ospreys; Mrs. Strang,- black satin and black bat with cream osproy; Mrs. Williamson, white spotted navy foulard and floral hat. Mary's Church, on January 7, tho wedding .took place of Miss- Margaret jMeeban, eldest daughter of Mr. ,T; Median, to Michael Karl, youngest son of : Mr.- W. Earl, of "Benacrc," Otaio.. The church was charmingly decorated for. tho occasion with' masses of white lilies, arid'tho Rev. Father Aubrey officiated. The bride, who was given away by her father, was attired in white crepe de chine, trimmed with pearl embroidery and lace. Her veil was arranged cap fashion, with orange blossoms, and she carried a bouquet of white lilies; Miss Nellie Median,' the only bridesmaid, wore peach bloom pink .silk voile, with a black hat. Mr. J. Earl attended his brother as best man, After tho wedding-breakfast, which was held at the residenra of the bride's parents. Mr. and Mrs. M. Earl left on an extended tour of the North Island, the bride travelling in p. costume of dull apricot-coloured-silk poplin, with a black hat trimmed with tulle wings. A Silver Weddings Mr. and Mrs. S. H. Myers gave a very pleasant and enjoyable "at. home" last evening in the new and pretty tearooms of Miss Mnxwdl. in Willis Street, tho occasion being their 'silver wedding. The supper table was charmingly decorated with pink sweet pea 3, and palest rose pink ribbon streamers, whilst clusters of sky blue bonbons decorated the corners, the tablo being centred,, of course, by the silver wedding cake. Mrs. IS.-H. Myere received in chalk white crepe de chine, trimmed with insertion, and outlined with silk embroidery, and little Miss Martha Myers: was daintily fraeked in white embroidered muslin, with bluo ribbon. Among the guests were Mrs. W. F. Maese-y. in black eharmeuse, trimmed,with jet, and a gold and mauve Oriental scarf. Miss Isabel Massey, in coral pink niiion. oyer white satin, finished'with crystal fringe. Mrs. Goldstein (tho mother of Mrs. Myers), in black chnrmoiise-, and Mrsdames.Malcolm Ross, Vaii Staveren, Grady, Philip Myers, Hall, Jenkinson. the Misses Bella and Phoebe Myers, Hall. .Brown, Grady, and many others, including a lafgo*number of gentlemen. During the evening Mr. Harold Myers played a violin solo, Miss Monteith tho' piano, Miss Grady sang, arid the Misses Hard-iiige-Maltby and Mavis Hall recited.
