BOYS FOR THE FARMERS.
THE BATCH BY THE AYRSHIRE. (By TelesmDh.—Press Association.) Auckland, January 20. Fifty-ono bov' immigrants under tho Government sciieme arrived by tbc Ayrshire from Liverpool this morning. Billets await them—twenty-four going to North Auckland, and twenty-seven to southern farmers. The boys will receive 7s. Gd.' per week for the first year, 03. Gd. being stopped until £10 has' accumulated to repay their passago money. In the second year the.v will- receive 12s. 6d., and in the third year 17s 3d. weekly. Tho boys' ages rango -from fifteen to' twenty. Some appear to bo fully-grown men. There appears to bo some discontent among a number of the lads, who state that they understood the wages quoted wer«, the minimum, and that others would bo paid according to ability.
