A peculiar accident happened to a motor-cyclist on the. South iiciad oil Tuesday afternoon (says the Taranaki "Herald"). Ho was proceeding out of town while a motor-car was approach-ing-in the other direction. Just as the two were passing,''otio of tho wheels of the car went over a loose horseshoe, throwing it up into the air. It struck the motor-cycle' between the stay and. tlio rim of the back wheel, completely ruining tho back tyre and tubo and considerably , buckling .the rim, Fortunately the cyclist escaped injury, and apparently the occupants of the car knew nothing of the incident, as they drove on without stopping to maivo inquiries.
