CRICKET. N.Z.t COUNCIL ACAIN DISCUSSED. The "Wellington Crickofc Association met last evening. Mr. C. 0. Wilson presided, and there were present, also, Messrs. 13. M. Diecchcy (secretary), F.. Martin (treasurer), M. J., Crombie, J. Fanning, C. Hickson, and R. Mason. Mr. Crombio said that he thought that some of the references to tho New Zealand Cricket Council and to the bal-ance-sheet of the Wellington-Canterbury match (made at the last meeting of the Wellington Association) were uncalled for. Someone had said that tho Now Zealand Cricket Council was quite out of touch with cricket, and had done nothing to help the game. Mr. Croinbie continued: "I don't think that can be borne out in any way."

Sir. Wilson : No! Hear, hear 1 Mr. Crombie, continuing, said: The fact that they have just brought off this tour of Australia shows, that they were working well. Some of the remarks came with very bad grace from membe'rs of this association. With regard to the criticism of the balancesheet that was made without knowing tho facts, Mr. Murray's reply seems to have knocked them on the head. I have noticed of late that there is a tendoncy to fall foul of the New Zealand Council on every opportunity. I think that the sooner we adopt a different attitude the better for cricket in Wellington; and, also, throughout tho Dominion. I don't suppose wo can. «\greo with everything they do, but 110 doubt they have some good men there, and perhaps some of them arc' doing more for tile game than we are doing here. . . Mr. Fanning: What about their demand regarding tho match between Wellington ami Now Zealand? ' Mr. Crombie: I think their demand high; but they are entitled to their opinion of what is necessary to seo them through. . . . We are becoming 1 to be looked upon as irreconcuallies, and I don't think that is proper. Mr. Beechoy said that his opinion had not altered in the week. 'The terms asked wero unreasonable. Mr. Crombie said that that did not justify anyone in saying that tho council was not doing anything for the game. He added that it was practice ally tho Wellington Association which prevented a New, Zealand team going to Australia last year. In Mr. Wilson's opinion tho W ellmgton Association "fell in very badly" 111 their criticism of the Christcliurch expenses; when the expenditure was explained, Wellington had not! a leg to stand 011. Mr. Hickson thought that the expenses wero higher, than was reasonable. , , , Mr.. Wilson thought that a broad view of' matters should be taken, and that in order to avoid parochialism'they should not look at anything solely through the eyes of their own province. A notification was received to tho effect that Sims's Australian team would arrivo hero on February 12, play Wel-lington-on February 13, 14, and 16, and leave for Napier 011 February 17. While in Wellington the visitors will stay at the Grand Hotel. OUTSIDE ASSOCIATION.
