... —- • • J ■; H n The output of the Taihape Co-opera-tive Dairy Company for the month of December eclipsed all previous records, the quantity of butter nianufacturecl being 26 tons, or 4£ tons in,excess of the previous best monthly outputs. The sum of £2650 was paid to suppliers for tho month, one dairyman receiving: £86 7s. Six new suppliers were adde.d to the list, making the present- total 110. At the 1 conclusion of tho stock sale at Balchitha last week between 30 and 40 farmers responded to an invitation by tho chairman of. the Clutha- branch, of the New Zealand Farmers' Union to attend a public meeting at tho saleyards "to discuss the Noxious Weeds Act and its administration." After a few farmers, who are well known for their criticism of some of tho clauses in the Act, and more particularly., of'-the-administration in regard to Califonjian thistles, had spoken, a committee was appointed to draw up a resolution to be in due courso presented to tho Prime Minister, asking in cffect that Californian thistles be deleted from the second ' schedule of the Act. The "Wintou Record" hears that losses in sheep are somewhat general in the district. As advertised, Air. J. G. Ha/.lett (of South Hillend) lost over 100. From Browns district it. is stated a farmer has 40 odd missing, while an Oreti farmer is reported to have been 200 short at his shearing. Other riiinor losses are reported.
