THE DELAYS OF EXAMINERS. (By Telefrraiih.—Press Association.) Dunedln, January 19. The University Senate resumed sitting this morning. ' s A number of matters, brought forward in the Chancellor's report, were relerred to various committees for report. With regard to Research Scholarships, Professor Chilton said that this matter was not sent to- the special committee until late in November, when there was 110 time to furnish a report. Professor Hunter said that this question of Research Scholarships had been 'before the Senate for a number of years, and yet the committee now reported that the matter liad not been sent to it till November. The resolution on the matter was passed in January. Mr. Hogoen thought that some of these matters ought to be managed by the Senate in a more businessliko way. It was resolved to ask the special oommittee to report to tho April meeting of tli© Senate. Professor Hight referred to the delay in issuing the results of the oommerce examinations. ■It was resolved tliat the attention of the November examiners ho called to the dolay of the local examiners in .reporting tho result 3of their examinations. Tho following notices of motion were given:—By Professor Hunter, to abolish' voting by proxy and to dispense with external examination; by Professor Hight, to set up a committee to report as to the desirability of establishing a university press;. by Professor Segar, where two examiners are selected for matriculation each to he allotted a definite paper. It was resolved that whenever any matter affecting tho university comes before Parliament or tho Education Committee, the Chancellor be authorised to take steps to have the university represented. The Educational Institute's application tliat agrloulture bo ma<lo a subject for junior scholarships and the B.A. degree was referred to the Science Committee.
