The ciiaifman', , in the courso of Ins opening remarks, .'commented on the satisfactory condition in which the society was nt present. Thrco years ago they had heid their inaugural meeting, in 'hired rooms, and now they were in tho position of holding their annual meeting in a room of their own. Three years . ago they had a membership of twelve members and. only £8 or £9 in hand. It was rather ambitious tlion. to imagine that, with their small subscription, they could hopo to raise sufficient funds to furnish a room for their own use. They had made an appeal for outsido subscriptions, nml this hod resulted in a sum of £13 being raised. This was the only donation received from tlif> outside publio, All thf* furniture of tho room had been : -paid for, and the society was now in tlw fertanativnositinil i)f having 1 (isscts that exceeded liabilities by over £80. Some £50 or £60 : of this amount was in hard cash. ■ Tho satisfactory state of affairs was due to the careful management by tho.
