Tho death by poisoning of a twe-yeai> 'M child named Jolm Samuel Ritchie was inquired into bj« tho Coroner this morning, Catherine Ritchie, the mother of tho deceased, stated that, at 4.30 p.m. oil Wednesday, one of -her children said that, he had bwn playing with a bottle, aim had swallowed fiomo of its contents. Witness had the bottle brought to her. and found it to bo empty. It was labelled "poison," Witness did not know .what was in tho bottle. Slio had heard her brother say recently that ho bad finished, a bottlo of liniwmt, and Wished ho. ebuld get some more liko it. Deceased smelt as if he had camphor mi him, but, believing tho bottlo to have been omjrty, witness did Mot think the little boy had eomo to anv harm, Wheiii she was putting him to bed at about G.IO p.m., however, hie body started twitching. Witness nut him down, but he- could not walk, Dr. Oojdsteiu was sent for, and., en hie advice, the boy 'was taken to the Auckland Hospital, whore ho died.
