YOUNG SHAH OF PERSIA.
$ CORONATION IN JULY. By Telefraph—Press Association—Cosyriant "Times"—Sydney "Sun" Special Cables. (Rec. January IG, 5.45 p.m.) Teheran, January 16. Preparations aro in train for tho coronation of the young Shah of Persia, Ahmed Mirza, on July 17 next. Tho foreign Powers have not been invited to send special representatives, owing to tho difficulty of tho journey, but tho great Durbar will be attended by tho I provincial Governors and chiefs, whoso retinues will form a splendid spectacle. Mohammed Ali Mirza, tho previous Shah, succeeded to the throne of Persia in 1907. His reign lasted two years, and wns marked by a succession of revolutions and rebellions that ended in his deposition. His son, Ahmed Jlirza, tlhen a minor, took his place, and Mohmnnied Ali Mirza went to reside- in Odessa, where ho occupied a palatini resilience, and enjoyed a pension of nearly .017,000 a year paid "by the Persian Government. Ahmed Mirza, a boy of 13 year?, was proclaimed Shah, under a Kegcncy (Nasr El, ,Mulk). Tho deposed . Shah had . attempted to overthrow the Constitution by a coup d'etat; ho had dispersed tho Assembly, and , razed -the Parliament .Hoiiso to■ the'iigfpflnil. lAt , 'the 'approach of' the Nationalist : armies from :Resht and Ispahan ho took refuse in ttie Bnssinn Consulate. Russia intervened on his behalf, and an arrangement was made. Mohammed was- allowed to proceed to Itussia, and he wns guaranteed a pension. Russia, in return, agreed that the pension would be forfeited if tibe ex-Shah was proved to be engaged in any intrigue in Persia. From the moment of his leaving Persia the ex-Shah was continually intriguing the now regime. In 1910 ho was in open reUtions , with, the Turcomans of the frontier. In July of 1911 the ex-Shah landed on Persian, territory on the shores of tho Caspian Sea and was received with enthusiasm at Astrabad. A reward of .£20.000 was placed on his head by tho Mojliss > (Persian Government), and a forco was sent from Teheran against him. By the end of September his following was dispersed. -
