Reports, which have, however, not been verified, state that the Canadian Government steamer Lady Lauriorhas been dispatched to endeavour to locate the wreck. Much wiockago lias come ashore ott the Nova Scotia, coast, but it _ is not known if it is from the Cobcqtiitl. The Cobequid has been sighted on Trinity Ledges. ... , , , The passengers arc believed to be safe. FOUR STEAMERS SUMMONED, BY WIRELESS. (Rec. January 15, 10.25 p.m.) Ottawa, January 15. In response to wireless calls, four steamers camo to'the assistance or the Cobequid. Tho rough seas had driven tho Cobequid on to the Trinity Rock, off l'ort Maitland, and under tho battering of tho great rollers tho vessel has now begun to break up. Tho wireless operators on board continued to call till the water entered the engine-room and stopped the power. Darkness and the blizzard combined to render the rescue of the passengers nnd crew a difficult task, but all entered the boats safely, with the exception of the captain and eleven men, who remain on board. , , There is some hope of salvaging the cargo should tho weather moderate. RESCUE EFFECTED. (Rcc. January 15, 9.25 p.m.) Ottawa, January 14. The rescue vessels havo taken off all the Cobcquid's crew and passengers. DAMAGE TO A STEAMER. Brisbane, January 15. Tho damage sustained by the steamer Somerset through the fire during fumigation will involve extensive- repairs on the vessel's arrival in London.
