Herries is travelling botwoen To Pnko and Rotorua to-day. The movements of tho Hon. F. M. B. Fisher aro not known with certainty, but ho ,is probably travelling to Dannevirke via I'almerston from the north. The Hon. A.: L: Hordman is still rusticating at Erua. The Right Hon. W. F. Massey is at Auckland, tho Hon. J. Allen at Dunedin, and the Hon. R. H. Rhodes at , Christohurch. .The Hon. W. Fraser arrived from Christchurch on his return from tho West Coast yesterday morning. He proposes to go to Kawhia,' either next week or tho following week, and ho will spend a low days there looking over tho roads and the country round about. Ho may also visit tho Raglan district beforo returning to Wellington. Tho Hon. H. D. Bell leaves for'Aucltland to-night, but he does not .intend, as was stated, to'go on with his tour of tho Lakes at once. Ho will return to Wellington on Monday. ■ Tho Hon. R. H. Rhodes is expected , to return to Wellington from Christchurch on Sunday. ■It is stated that the Hon. R. M'Nab will be a candidate at next election in ,!hc ; Opposition interest for the Dunedin West seat, now held by the Hon. J. A. Millar. Mr. W. Belcher, secretary of '.he Seamen's Union at Dunedin, will, it understood, contest the seat as a Labour candidate. Mr. W. G. Riddell, S.M.,' who had been spending tho Christmas and New Year holidays in Dunedin, returned to Wellington on Wednesday. Mr. Hwang Yung-Liang, formerly Chineso Consul in Wellington, and more recently Consiil'General for China in tho Commonwealth, has recently been appointed to the Chinese Foreign Office iiv Peking.

The Rev. A- M. Johnson, vicar of St. Paul's parish, Wellington, intends to leave for a trip to,, England shortly. :> .Sir. Joseph Ward is expected to return to Wellington from, south on fcjuhday morning. ' The Rev. .W. Butterwortfi, orstwhilo a Congregational minister in England, has been formally received into the ministry of the Presbyterian Church by tho Auckland Presbytery. . Mr. Butterwortli is at present conducting services at Tuakau. At the annual meeting of the Auckland Fire Undonvriters' Association, Mr. ,, Charles E. Palmer was elected cbajrman and Mr. J. J. Kingston vicechairman for the ensuing year. Mr. Arthur M'Sherry, of the G:cymouth Post and Telegraph Department, has been transferred, on promotion, to be Postmaster at Otirn. Mr. H. J. Atkinson, manager of. the Hawera Gasworks, has resigned his position, acting under medical advice. ■Mr. and Mrs. T. W. Butcher, of this Cityj returned by the Ulimaroa on Wednesday last after a nine-months' trip to the Old Country.' Tho Rev. Dr. Walter Frederick Aiileney, M.A., London, D.D. St. Andrew's, ex-chairman of the Congregational Union of England and Wales, and Principal of the Lancashire Congregational Training College, who is to arrive in Wellington to-morrow, was - for seventeen years Congregational Minister at, Acton, and for fourteen years professor of New-Testament Exegesis and of Church History at New College, Louden, and Lecturer at Hackney College. In 1903 lie became Principal of Lancashire College and Lecturer in the History of Doctrine, at the University of Manchester, resigning in 1[)12. During nivstay in the city, Dr. Adene.v will preach at the three -Congregational Churches, and, in addition, will hold a conference on the Sunday School of thn future. He will also lecture on "The Bible and Modern Problems" and "Christ after' Criticism." ' ■ The Rev. A. M.
