RECORD ENTRIES. PRINCIPAL PRIZE AWARDS. (By Tclcjraph.—i-pccial Correspondent.) Pahiatua, January 1-1. Bright, breezy weather prevailed for the hlth anunal show or tno l'ahiatua ■ A. and I'. Association to-day. There were record entries, and a big attendance of the public, many visitors being from other districts. The gato takings showed a. big increase 011 the previous year's gathering. The judges were as under: —Horses and competitions, Mr. Georgo Tlnnter, M.P. (Porangalmu) and W. IX Watson (Masterton); eattle 4 Messrs. S. R. Lancaster (I'almerston North) and C. llop- ' piug (Feikling). Sheep: Roniney, Mr. A. Matthews (Featherston); lincoin, Mr. D. M'Gregor (Masterton); fat sheep, Mr. AV. M'Kenzio (Masterton). Dogs, Mr. AV. D. Taylor (l'ahiatua). .Sheep and cattle wore strong features of tho show. There was a fine exhibition of Roinneys. J. E. Hewitt (Mangainaire) scored heavily, and Mr. K. Halibu'rton was also very successful. Other awards went to AV. N. Miller and A. M'Kay. The judge expressed groat satisfaction at the display of Romneys. In Lincolns there was i'airlv good competition. Messrs. 11. L. Wilton and C. Avery being tho prize-takers. [11 fat- slit'cp, L. Joliansen secured the Ehiof award. In-fat lambs, L. Joliansen, A. Barrel), and Miss E. Ross wore the principal prize-takers. v There was a splendid show of Jersey cattle and dairy cattle, especially heifers. Tho judges were highly pleased, especially with the champion dairy cow, owned by Sirs. H. Cowan (Mangatainoka), describing it as an extraordinarily good beast. . Tho principal prize-takers in Jersey cattle were E. S., Holde.wav. and 11. Stratford. Thd former's 'bull Fairy's' Campanile secured the championship, and Mr. Stratford s Pride of *Eltliam was champion cow. Mr. Miltoii Alpass's Junot was first and reserve champion ' lor bull calved since Julv 1, 1911. Other awards went to R. 'H. Hughes and W. Hall. The entrv of.Holsteins was not up to previous years. AV. H. Bayliss and A. Barrel! were the sole exhibitors. In dairy'cattle,, the principal prizetakers were: Mrs. H. Cowan, R. H. Hughes. M. Aipass, C. C. Anderson, and°A. M'Farlane.
