Themany admirers of Madame Clara Butt's beautiful voice, and ditto gowns, w ill be interested in the folia wing description by a Sydney lady of the artis- j tically unique robe worn by Madame at 1 one of her recent farewell concerts in Australia: —Madame Clara Butt's gown, was likp one ,of Christina Rossetti's poems, so sicbl.v wrought and bedig'hi it was. It suggested "Moonlight, on the Danube,." consisting of moonlight blue sheeny material, woven in splashes of silver that shifted with every movement of the wearer. Two black velvet water-, lilies floated on the surface, one ,oli the left shoulder and one near the hem of the draped skirt. The robe, which had a narrow train, was cut en I'rincesse, and had angel sleeves of blue chiffon edged with silver fringe. Beautiful diamond ornaments adorned the corsage, and a coronet of diamonds, punctuated with pearls, was worn in the hair. Spring Fashions, The fashion-makers of Paris have decreed that ultra brilliant, assertive colours will be out of favour for the spring. Soft browns and greyish greens are to be popular, also many new varieties of reseda, ranging from mistletoe to cucumber in tint. Tali, yellow, and gold will still be worn, but in more subdued (and may one add more becoming) shades than at present. A new "black and white" room was added last week to the Art Gallery at the Auckland Exhibition. ■ It contains a- very fine collection of etchings by Frank Brangwvn. C. Hobroyd, A. Bayes, L.
