The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Oo„ Ltd., report :—At Feilding, on Friday, a small entry came forward, and met with keen competition. Sheep: Woolly ewes, 175.; light fat ewes, 15s. 4d. to 15s. Bd. Oattle: Oowb, in calf, £4 155.; springing cows, £6 15b.
Messrs. AbraAa.ni and Williams. Ltd.. toport on their Fcilding sale, held oi» Friday:— We had a medium yarding of both sheep and oattle, which met with a ready sale, everything selling under the hammer. We quote:—Two-tooth wethers, 15h. Id,; 2-tooth ewes, 145.; mixorl 2-tooths, 10s. Sd. to 15s. Id.; aged ewes and lambs, la. lidall counted; fat 2-tooth wethers, 15s. 3d. Oattle: Cows in milk, £5 2s. 6d.; cows at the drop, £8-2s. 6d.; IS-months steer, £2 lJs. 6d.; mixed weaners, 10s. to 19s. Messrs. Dalgcty and Co., Ltd., Palmerston North, roporfc having * good entry of both sheep and cattle at the leilding pole on Friday, which Bold as under:— Sheep quotations :-Forward ewes, shorn, 123. 6d. to 145.; backward ewes, shonr, 10s. 5d., 125., 12s. 2d.; fat ewes, 14s. 4d, to 165.; lambs, shorn, 9s. 4d.; cull lambs, shorn, 7s. 6d. Dalgety anil Co. report :-At our Fcilding sale, on Friday, January 9, we have to report having a, very fair entry of both sheep and cattle, when a. total clearance was made at auction at prices highly E-atfsfactory to vendors. Quotations :-Medium Bhorn lambs, 7s. 6d.; shorn lambs, to 9s. 4d.; empty low-conditioned ewes, to 10s. 5d.; Is.m. fair-condition owes, 12a. to 12s. <d.; forward conditioned ewes, to 14s. and 14s. 43.; fat shorn owes, to 165.;, bulls, £3 ss. to £4 19e. 6d.; low-con-ilition storo cows, £2 17s. 6d.; heavy fat cows, to £7 13s. 6d.; 3-year steers, to £7. Dalgety and 00., Ltd., Palmerston North, report having held their usual Etock salo at Falmcrston North, yesterday, ■ when they offered their usual yard*ing of cattle and a small yarding of sheep to a fair attondance of the public. Grown oattlo wero in good demand throughout, but young cattle did not sell quite up to last sale s report. A fairlv good entry of sheep was oflerca, nnd' competition throughout was exceptionally keen, and prices realised.exceeded vendors' reserves, rape lambs being in
particularly good demand. Messrs. Williams and Kettle, Ltd., Dan nerirlte, reporting on their sale in the Millcr'e Road yards, say:—We offered a record yarding of cattlo and a large yarding of sheep. Young cattlo sold well up to late rates, but 2* to 3-year steers hardly maintained prices ruling at late sales. Prices for al! clasGcs of slieep woro. well in favour of vendors. We mad* tho following sales:—Two-tooth ewes, 13s. 9d. to lJs. 6d.; 2-tooth wethers, 10s. to 165.; fat lambs, 15s. Sheep met with very keen competition, and sold well in advance of last sale rates. Cattle, no doubt owing to the big' offering, did not eell quite as well as at last sale, although prat/lically: everything was eventually quitted at satisfactory prices. We quote:— Jl.s. yearling, £2 12a. 6d. Cattle: M.S. IS to 18-months old, £3 to £3 7s. 6d.: 2-year-old empty heifers, £3 155.; store cows, £3 155.; 2-year springing heifers. £4 l&s.: fat and forward cows, up' to £4 10s.; fat cows, £5 ss.
Mr. Newton King reports:—At Urenui, on January 5, I haa only a small entry of cattlo, which sold as follows:—Yearlin2 heifers, £2 155.; 2J-yoar steers, £5 ss. to £5 12s. 6d.: 3J-year bullocks, £6 12s. 6d.i store cows, £3 16s. 6d. to £4 lto.; forward cows, £5 Is. to £5 IBs.: springing heifers, £4 12s. 6d. to £6 10s.; dairy cows, £7 lCs.i bulls, £3 Is.; buggy, £25; cows and cabes. £5 ss. On the same day, at Douglas, t'aero was a full yarding. At Stony Eiver, on Wednesday, there was a fair entry, with a good demand for all classes.
