CYCLONE IN TAMWORTH

CROPS DESTROYED. HOUSES SMASHED TO PIECES By Telegraph-Press Association—Copyright Sydnoy, January 10. A cyclone in the Tamworth and Nemingha districts, accompanied by torrential rain and hail, did widespread damage. Many houses were dismantled and unroofed. The Anglican Church and a large butter factory were also unroofed. A big area of lucerne and tobacco crops was destroyed. The loss will run to many thousands. There wore several ' sensational escapes. Some men wore blown from a lead of hay ovor a fence by the forco of the wind. Weather-board houseß and sheds were smashed to pieces and blown clean away. Pigs were lifted over fences. A flood added to the devastation. Luckily- the storm exhausted itself iu a limited area.
