Burns- (Auckland) asked how -it was intended to keep up tho snppl.y of teachers if parents wero not prepared to allow their children to enter the profession, Parents know of tho existing disoonteufc amongst taciters, particularly among tlwso in grado three and tour schools, and in the f-iituro they would bo less inclined to alio-* their children to enter the teaching profession unless substantial increases in salary were granted" to teachers, especially "in tho class of schools ho had named.
