BLENHEIM STABBING AFFRAY
ACCUSED BEFORE THE COURT. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) Blenhoim, January 9. A sequel to the sensational stabbing affray in tho pit lobby of His Majesty's theatro on tho night of January 5 tool; places in the Magistrate's Court to-day, when an elderly Chinaman named Chow Lei waa charged with stabbing _ Percy Maddock in several places with a pocket-knife. Maddock was also chargcd with assaulting tho Chinaman by striking him on tho neck. The Magistrate deprecated tho uso of tho knife, but took into consideration tho fact that the Chinaman was peeling an apple a', tho tiuio ho was assaulted by Maddock, and that ho was grossly and repeatedly provocated by Maddock, who'struck him a number of times, finally knocking hiin down, apparently without cause. Tho Chinaman was acquitted. Tho Magistrate strongly condemned tho action of Maddock "all through tho affair, and fined him £10, and £2 os. 3d. costs.
