It.is announced that H. L. Doherty, the famous ex-champion lawn tennis player, contemplates a return, to the game next summer. The "Sporting Life" discusses, the matter thus: "A brother of the Lute Mr. It. F. Doherty, ex-champion, ho is one of the greatest players the gamrs has produced. For five years he held the All-England title in 1007. His last public appearance, was in 1910. After giving-up lawn tennis, Mr. Doherty devoted his attention to golf, and is now a plus three man. Although ho lias been out of the jjanie for several years, the ex-champion is still a comparatively young, man, having recently celebrated his 37th birthday. 'H.L.' was known on the courts in most parts of the wc-rld. For five years he held the All-England singles championship, and, with his brother, the doubles for.eight*seasons. In partnership, the brothers first-, won the Dav is Clip for England.". .. ■■■-. ■:- E. F. Parker May Co East. The question of sending a team to .Adelaide next March to compete in the championship meeting thcro is still under consideration of the West Australian L.T.A. It is recognised that South Australia wilt probably riot send another team to the West until the last visit has been returned. It will bo highly desirable, if only for | the prestige of' the game in this State ' (says, a Perth writer), that Western Australia should bo well represented in Adelaide, where in all probability some of tho leading players in the Commonwealth will he pliying, It is specjaliy 1 desirablo that E. F. Parker should lie asked to form one..of the team, at all hazards, so that he may be able to dc- [ monstrato .to at least one of tho other I States that ho is a player of high calibto, I and that his successes against visiters here are not due to"'!cxcess of hospitality conferred upon his opponents." h a team.is to bo,Sfnf,over..it.wou!d b-' v.cH that an early, soli etion should be made 'so i.'as : to.- give', those. chosen -as much timu as' possible to prepare.themselves for;.the ■■
