Extract from "N. 2. Times" 'of August 12th, 1913, dealing with the report submitted to Parliament by Dr. Maclaurin, Domin- •• ion Analyst— ADULTERATION OF MII.K "372 Samples of 'milk' were tested. Concerning the Wellingicn tests it was - found that oite quarter of ihe samples .. were found ei her to be deficient in fat, to contain'boric acid, or to be diluted ; with water to an average extent of nearly 10 per cent. Milk is, in thousands of . instances the slaplc food—often the only : food—of infants and invalids. The quality of a milk supply may mean life .. or death. There has been established i in the Dominion Analyst's report the.', urgent need for drastic measures."
