Professor George Gilbert Murray, Regius Professor of Greek, Oxford University, wrote: , "My belief is that the need for spoiling reform is yearly becoming stronger. Sir Willintn Mitchell Bamsay, who presided, said: "If there was a'ruks for modern pronunciation and spelling, English would lie adopted as the universal language." Professor Water Bippmann, Chief Inspector to the University of London, urged that it was important from an Imperial standpoint that their follow subjects in Australia and Canada should have- the same standard. Dr. Wesley T. Mills, Emeritus Professor of Physiology, M'Gill University, Canada, advocated an international conference to be attended by delegates Irom all parts of the Empire and the. United States. A resolution was adopted declaring that English as the standard speech should be clearly defined, and requesting the Board of Education to summon a conference, for the- purpose.
