Bichard HhU, of Epsom, who was ; for many connected with tho Government Stock Department in Pat' nwston South, Marlbortwgh, Waugnimi, and latterly in Auckland. He was tho third son of the late. Mr. Francis Holmes Hull, at one fimo M.P. for Msrsdeii. Mr. Francis John Purvis, late of tho Royal Navy, and until recently a resident of the Veterans' Home, died at the Auckland District Hospital at tho advanced age of, 06 years. Deceased fought and was woundod at tbo battle of St. Jean d'Acre in 1840, and also took part in tho assault on Gate Pah in 1863. He was seriously wounded in this action, a bullet entering his body. At th? tiiuo of tho assault on 6ato Pah he was a member of the crow of H.M.S. Miranda.
