The short title of the By-law is the Building By-law, 1913. Tho objects and purport of tho By-law are to make provision respecting Buildings, their sites and foundations, construction, urrangemebt, and repair, the mode in which, and the materials with which they nre erected and repaired, for securing stability, prevention of fir-3, public safety, and lor purposes of health and for regulating buildings of a public character, frontages and open-air spaces, and the prevention of overcrowding, revoking thß Building By-law, 1905. Buildings to be subject to control of Council, permits to bo applied for and plana lodged with Engineer before commencement of work. I'orni of application and details as to plans, sections, etc., to be supplied. Conditions under which permits issued. Penalties hereunder. Form and effect; of permit. Conditions as to construction of buildings whether in brick, stone, concrete, or otherwise. Height of walb, provision as to cross walls and partition walls; provisions for subdivided buildings, foundation walls, party walls, bonding of brick walls, timbering of excavations, testing and bearing capacity of soil, foundations of brick', stone, or concrete walls, piles, pier foundations, footing?, and offsets.
