TENTH ROUND. ' (By Telcgraph.-Press Association.) Auckland, January 6. At the Chess Congress the tcntii round commenced this morning, tho pairings and openings selected being as follow :— Hicks v. Myers (Ginoco piano); Moore v. Wingfield (Petroff defence) ; Dodd v. Stewart (Ginoco piano); Gyles v. Miles (French defence); James v. Gricrson (Queen's Gambit declined); Mason v. Davios (Queen's Pawn game); Barnes v. Severno (Ruy Lopez); Kelling, a bye. At the luncheon adjournment the only fcnmc finished was that of Dodds v. Stewart. Stewart neglected tho first essential in chess development, and foolishly went pawn-chasing. The result was that when Dodds's attack was ready it found Stewart unprepared. Dodds mated him on tho 26th move. [No particulars of play at tho evening session came to hand last night.]
