MARKERS ON RANGES.
•CLUBS NOT LIABLE FOR ACCIDENTS. Mr. H. Marshall, chairman of the New Zealand Kitto Club's Executive, yesterday received the following reply .from the Minister of Defence, (tho Hon. J. Allen)"oii two 1 qUestidiis on'which for some time negotiations' havb' r been proceeding :—"Knle clubs aro relieved from Jiabiilty for accidents to markers on ranges-that have been approved and,] passed by the Defence- Department, when regulations governing shooting on villo ranges have been rigidly adhered to. 'Free railway passes will bo granted to rille clubs for friendly teams' matches." Mr. Marshall is gratified at the result of the negotiations, and riflemen generally will see by the reply that the Government is anxious to help on the work of tho clubs. Many of the clubs aro at present paying insurance premiums on their markers, and it I as long been felt that this burden should not be imposed on them. The issue of free- railway passes for teams' matches will be again welcomed. These freo passes wern granted in the past, bat were cancelled somo throe years ago.
